I also tried broth which turned out to be almost right texture wise but way too transparent. Soy sauce turned out to be the winner between the three but I'm still not totally convinced. I think I have to continue looking for the perfect fit.
So today I've begun the quest of finding some liquid that will hopefully look like blood in a black and white photo. I did some research online and found out that they used chocolate syrup in the classic shower scene in Psycho which kinda confirmed my initial idea to use syrup. Turns out it doesn't look so good in still photos. I also tried broth which turned out to be almost right texture wise but way too transparent. Soy sauce turned out to be the winner between the three but I'm still not totally convinced. I think I have to continue looking for the perfect fit. And keeping to the theme I thought I'd share two of my favorite songs with a crime scene connection: Queens of the Stone Age You Got a Killer Scene There, Man and The Afgan Whigs Crime Scene, Part One. Enjoy!

So I figured since I'm not taking any photos myself at the moment (except for that assignment at work) I figured I would recommend some of the sites and photographers I go to for inspiration.
The latest addition to my computers bookmarks and my must-check-list is Daniel (DJ-Ingen) Wallenberg. His photos seems connected although they are taken at different places in the world and I believe that comes from having a natural focus as a photographer. I especially appreciate the light in his photos, I'm constantly trying to figure out how he does it but always end up lost and mesmerized instead. Another favorite for me to visit is Jonas Peterson's site. He's a Swedish photographer now living in Australia and his specialty is wedding photos. But don't expect the traditional, stiff wedding photos, this is wedding photos de luxe. Always with a hint of magic and always with a lot of heart. If I ever were to marry I would definitely want Jonas to be there with his camera. That should keep you busy until I get back from London in a week. Hopefully my camera will be filled with photos to share! And if you have a site or a photographer you'd like to recommend to me, feel free to do so. I'm always on the prowl for new inspiration. |
