See you back here in the weekend for new photos!
Wednesday night and I'm just about to go to bed so this will not be long. However I wanted to let you know that I'm up to something exciting and scary. I will keep it what it is a secret for a while longer (don't want to jinx this!) but keep your fingers crossed for me, okay?
See you back here in the weekend for new photos!

Lately I have talked to friends and family about making my photography professional but those conversations has raised a question: what kind of photographer am I and what genre should I focus on?
So far I have ruled out news photo (too scared honestly) but there's countless of other genres I can see myself enjoying. But what would be the right one? I guess I have to ponder this some more, until then: thanks for stopping by! The last couple of weeks I have been going through old photos to learn from them but also take a walk down memory lane. Upon findig this I was quickly returned to present time with a grin on my face.
I took this photo almost two years ago when I visited London. We spent our last day in the Brick Lane and Spitalfield areas, looking for bargains and, in my case, great shots. I liked how the store owner had arranged this corner and decided to capture it but didn't think it would make me smile two years later. Back then I had heard about the TV-series Dr Who but I had never seen it and never thought I would. Earlier this year though, with the magic of Netflix and the persuasion of a friend, I started watching the more modern version of the series. I slowly started to learn about all of those things I've only read or heard about before and started to understand how big of a influence the series has had on modern pop-culture and apparently even on my photos! Or maybe the Doctor placed that Dalek there for me to discover when I finally came around? My process, the way I find inspiration to take photos, is mostly to lace on my walking shoes, hang the camera around my neck and walk. Sometimes I take a bus or my car to a place I'm interested in but when I go through my photos I realize that most of them are taken on a walking distance from where I sleep.
To walk gives me the time to take a place in, feel its rhythm and experience it with all of my senses which in turn inspires me to take photos. I can walk the same route 40 times and still find something new I want to capture with my camera. Shrouded was taken during such a walk. I have probably passed this house 50 times and although I have wondered about how it looks on the inside and who lives there I have never before thought of taking a photo of it. This day though the sun hit it just right, the autumn leaves framed it perfectly and I saw it in a whole new light. Suddenly this little house, which is surrounded by other houses, became a fairytale cabin in a far away magical forest. Now I can't pass it without smiling. |
